What "sex toys" means in India today
Search for sex toys and you get three very different things mixed together. Sort them first, then the buying gets easy.
- Vibrators and massagers. Bullet or egg vibrators, suction toys, dual "rabbit" style toys, and bead toys. Mostly bought by a man for his wife or girlfriend, sometimes by her for herself. This is the biggest category by far.
- BDSM kits and restraints. Handcuffs, blindfolds, ball gags, floggers, rope, bed straps. Bought for a couple, usually for one specific night that someone has been planning for weeks.
- Butt plugs and bead toys. Small, no battery, more popular in India than anyone admits out loud.
Then there are toys for men (strokers, rings) and lube. We do not stock men's toys today, so this guide stays honest and sticks to what we sell and what we have checked live at other Indian shops.

Is it legal to buy sex toys in India?
Yes, for personal use. There is no Indian law that makes buying or owning a sex toy an offence. What the law does cover is obscenity: Section 292 of the IPC, now Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, punishes the sale, public display and distribution of obscene material. That is why Indian sellers describe toys as massagers, keep the packaging plain and keep explicit images off the box. Customs can and does seize imported parcels it decides are obscene, which is a problem for people ordering from foreign sites, not for toys that are already in India and shipped by an Indian seller with a GST invoice.
We wrote the full plain-English version, with the sections and the customs angle, in Are sex toys legal in India? on this blog. This is a summary, not legal advice.
How the parcel reaches you (plain box, COD)
This is the part most men worry about more than the price. Here is exactly what happens, taken from our live shipping policy and product pages:
- Plain, sealed outer box. No product name, no picture, no lingerie words on the outside.
- Sender name on the label: Sinderella Apparels. To the courier, to your watchman, to your flatmate, it is a clothes parcel.
- Delivery is free across India. Metros and tier-1 cities in 3 to 7 business days, tier-2 and tier-3 in 5 to 10, remote pin codes up to 15.
- COD hai. Cash on delivery carries a ₹99 charge, shown at checkout. Prepay and there is no COD charge, plus a free Raabta scratch card goes into the box.
- Tracking by SMS and email once it ships. If tracking says delivered and you have nothing, tell us within 72 hours.
Plain box mein aata hai. Bas. Nobody at home needs to know, unless you want her to open it.
Where to buy sex toys in India
Honest map of the market, so you can pick with your eyes open:
- Sinderella (us). Own-brand toys with Hindi names, made for Indian couples and priced for a first purchase: kits from ₹849, plugs from ₹599, vibrators ₹999 to ₹1,799. Plain box, COD, free delivery. Best if you want the cheapest entry into kink and a vibrator that does not cost a week's salary.
- IMbesharam, Love Depot, MyMuse. International brands (Satisfyer, Lovense, Fifty Shades) and premium own-brand designs. Bigger range, higher prices. Best if you know a specific brand you want.
- Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Meesho. Listings exist under "personal massager". Seller quality varies a lot and the box is whatever the seller feels like. Fine for lube, risky for a first toy.
- Offline shops. Palika Bazaar in Delhi and a few chemists in every metro. You pay in cash, you get no invoice, and you are standing in a shop holding a vibrator. Online with a plain box is the Indian way for a reason.
Which sex toy to buy first
You are one of three people. Find yourself.
You are a man buying for her
Start with something small, quiet and warm. Garmahat warms to body temperature so the first touch is never cold, and it does suction and vibration at the same time. If she is shy about a "vibrator" as an object, Jugalbandi is friendlier: a suction piece and a little egg on one remote. You hold the remote. She holds on to the bedsheet.
You are a couple planning one big night
Buy a kit, not a single toy. The Naksh 7-piece BDSM kit at ₹849 has cuffs, a blindfold, rope, a flogger and a ball gag, so the whole night is in one box. Use two pieces the first time, not seven. Blindfold first, then cuffs. Everything else can wait for the second night.
You are her, buying for yourself
Hirni if you like slow and building, Jhankaar if you want two motors and heat, Jugalbandi if you want something you can use with him later without it feeling like a big deal. All three are USB rechargeable and come with the cable.
First time with any sex toy: the five rules
- Charge it fully before the first use. Every rechargeable toy we sell ships with its cable.
- Use water-based lubricant. More than you think. Always with the plug and the bead toy.
- Start on the lowest setting. The highest setting is for week three, not night one.
- Wash with soap and warm water before and after, dry it, keep it in the pouch.
- Keep the base or ring outside the body at all times, on every plug and bead toy. The jewel stays out. The deer ring stays out.
Raat lambi hai. Slow is not a compromise, it is the whole point.
What people get wrong about sex toys in India
"Ye sab illegal hai." No. Buying for yourself is not an offence. Selling obscene material is. That is a seller's problem, and it is why we package the way we do.
"Vibrator matlab she does not need me." A toy in a couple's bed is used by two people. The remote-controlled egg exists precisely so that you are the one in charge.
"Cheap toy = unsafe toy." Price is mostly brand and import duty. Our toys are silicone and ABS, rechargeable, and priced low because they are our own products, not a foreign brand with a distributor margin in the middle.
"Delivery boy ko pata chal jayega." He sees a box from Sinderella Apparels. That is all he sees.

Are sex toys legal in India?
Buying and owning them for personal use is not an offence under any Indian law. Obscenity provisions (Section 292 IPC, now Section 294 BNS) apply to selling or publicly displaying obscene material, which is why Indian sellers use plain packaging and neutral product names. Customs may seize imports it considers obscene; toys shipped within India by an Indian seller do not pass through customs.

Do sex toys come in a plain box in India?

Is cash on delivery available for sex toys?
Yes. COD is available across India on sinderella.in with a ₹99 COD charge shown at checkout. Prepaid orders have no COD charge and get a free scratch card in the box.
