Flogger vs whip: which one should a couple buy first?

by Sinderella on Oct 01, 2026

Short answer: flogger first, whip much later, maybe never. A flogger is a handle with many soft tails that lands as a wide, warm thud; a whip is one long tail that cuts a sharp line and needs real skill. Sinderella does not sell a flogger on its own; it comes inside the BDSM kits: the Naksh 7-piece BDSM kit at ₹849, the Sangam 10-piece BDSM kit at ₹1,199, and the Kaala Sona 9-piece BDSM kit at ₹4,999, which adds a heart-shaped spanking paddle. All three in stock today, plain sealed box.

Below: what a flogger is, how it feels, flogger vs whip vs riding crop, where to land it and where never, the first night step by step, aftercare, and today's prices.

What is a flogger?

A flogger is a short handle with a bunch of tails hanging off the end. Ten tails, twenty, forty, depends on the make. The tails are soft material: suede, PU leather, rubber, sometimes cotton cord. You hold the handle, swing, and all the tails land together across the skin. Because the hit is spread over many tails, the feeling spreads too. It is a push, a warm slap, not a cut.

That is the whole difference from the "whip" people picture from films: one long tail, loud, needs practice, bites. A flogger forgives a bad swing. That is why nearly every beginner BDSM kit puts a flogger inside and not a whip.

What is a flogger used for?

Three things, in this order for a couple starting out.

  • Touch and tease. Dragging the tails slowly over her back, her thighs, the inside of her arm while she is blindfolded. No swinging at all. For many couples this is the whole first night.
  • Warm-up. Light, rhythmic taps on the bum and the back of the thighs. The skin warms, goes pink, and the body relaxes into the rhythm. Dheere se shuru karo.
  • Impact play. Once she is warm and asking for more, the swings get a little firmer. The thud lands deep, like a strong massage with a heartbeat. This is the "spanking" people search for when a hand is not enough.

Mostly it is him flogging her, because he bought the kit. The night biwi takes the handle is a different night altogether. Take turns.

What does a flogger feel like? Thud vs sting

Every impact toy sits somewhere between two feelings.

Thud is deep and wide. Many thick tails, heavy suede or rubber, swung slowly from the shoulder. It feels like a firm hand landing flat on the bum, then a spreading warmth. It is the feeling most people who enjoy being flogged come back for. Start here.

Sting is sharp and stays on the surface. Thin tails, few tails, a fast flick of the wrist, or a riding crop, or a single whip. It feels like a hot line. Sting is for later, when she already knows she likes impact and tells you to go sharper.

Material decides most of it. Soft suede gives a soft thud. PU leather sits in the middle, with a small snap at the end. Rubber is heavy thud. Thin braided cord is pure sting. Beginner-kit floggers are usually a light synthetic tail, which is exactly right for a pehli baar: even a clumsy swing feels like a tease, not a punishment.

Flogger vs whip vs riding crop

Flogger Riding crop Whip
Shape Handle with many tails Thin rod with a small leather flap One long braided tail
Feeling Wide, warm thud Small sharp sting on one spot Sharp line, loud crack, can mark skin
Skill needed Almost none Some aim Serious practice; most couples never need it
Room needed Arm's length Arm's length A clear room
First night? Yes Night three or four No

One warning: search "whip" on a marketplace and half the results are horse-riding whips. A bedroom flogger is softer, shorter and lighter on purpose. If the listing shows a saddle, keep scrolling.

Where to land it, and where never

Yes: the bum, the back and outer thighs, and the upper back on either side of the spine where the muscle is thick. Fleshy, padded parts take a thud and turn it into warmth.

Never: the spine, the lower back over the kidneys, the neck, the face, the stomach, the joints, the hands and feet. Anywhere bone sits close under the skin is off limits. Tails that wrap around the side of the body land harder than you meant, so aim for the middle of the bum, not the edge.

The first night with a flogger, step by step

Before: the two-minute talk

Say it plainly: "Aaj raat flogger try karein? Sirf halka, aur jab tum bolo tab band." Agree a safe word that is not "no" or "stop", because in the moment those can sound like part of the game. Red, pineapple, anything odd. When it is said, the flogger goes on the floor. No discussion, no sulking.

Step 1: tails only, no swing (5 minutes)

Blindfold on. Drag the tails slowly down her back, over her bum, down the back of her legs. Let them pool on her skin and lift away. She cannot see where it goes next. That is the toy doing its job before you have swung once.

Step 2: taps (5 minutes)

Short, soft taps from the wrist, on the bum only. The speed of a slow heartbeat. Ask "theek hai?" once. Then stop asking and watch her breathing instead; it tells you more than words do.

Step 3: rhythm, then one firmer (10 minutes)

Same rhythm, swing from the elbow now, still slow. Every few strokes, one slightly firmer, then back to soft. If she arches into it, you are doing it right. If she pulls away, back to Step 1 for a minute.

Stop while she still wants more

Night one ends with her asking why you stopped. That question makes night two happen. Flogger down, blindfold off, aftercare.

Aftercare, the part people skip

After impact play the mood can go quiet for a few minutes as the body comes down. Normal. So: a blanket, water, your hand flat on the warm skin, and talk. Ask what she liked, what she did not, where it felt best. Not the phone, not sleep, not yet. Ten minutes of this is worth more than any extra stroke.

Next morning, a little pinkness is fine. A mark that looks like a line means the swing was too hard or landed on the edge; go softer and aim for the middle next time.

Why a BDSM kit is the right first flogger

Honest fact: Sinderella does not sell a standalone flogger or whip. The flogger comes inside the kits, and for a first night that is the right way round. The first night is not really about the flogger; it is blindfold, then soft cuffs, then tails on skin. A kit gives you all three, and if flogging turns out not to be her thing, the blindfold and cuffs still get used every week.

The Naksh 7-piece BDSM kit at ₹849 is the test: flogger, blindfold, wrist cuffs, ankle cuffs, collar with lead, rope and a ball gag, in black or red. The Sangam 10-piece BDSM kit at ₹1,199 adds a feather tickler for the tease step, nipple clamps and a cross-shaped strap connector. The Kaala Sona 9-piece BDSM kit at ₹4,999 is the gift version in black and gold faux leather: flogger plus a heart-shaped spanking paddle, so you get thud and sting in one box, with an open-eye cat mask instead of a blindfold. Browse all of them under BDSM kits and sex toys.

If you want the rest of the kit explained, read BDSM toys 101 for beginners, handcuffs and bed restraints for couples, and ball gag and blindfold: the first night of kink.

Flogger FAQ

What is a flogger used for?

For teasing skin with the tails, for warming up the bum and thighs with light taps, and for impact play once a couple wants a deeper thud than a hand gives. Beginners use it mostly for the first two.

What sensations does a flogger create?

A wide, warm thud when swung slowly with thick soft tails, and a light sting when flicked fast with thin tails. The tails dragged slowly over skin give goosebumps before a single swing. Material and speed decide which you get.

Flogger vs whip: what is the difference?

A flogger has many soft tails on a short handle and spreads the hit, so it is forgiving and beginner-safe. A whip is one long tail that lands as a sharp line, needs practice and space, and can mark skin. Couples should start with a flogger.

What is flogger in slang?

In old English a flogger was the person who did the beating, and "to flog" can mean to sell something. In BDSM talk a flogger is only the many-tailed toy.

Does a flogger hurt?

Only as much as you swing it. A soft-tailed kit flogger used from the wrist feels like a firm pat and warmth. It hurts only with a hard swing, thin tails, or landing on bone. Stay on the bum and thighs, keep it slow, keep the safe word.

Can I buy a flogger alone from Sinderella?

Not today. The flogger comes inside the Naksh 7-piece BDSM kit (₹849), the Sangam 10-piece BDSM kit (₹1,199) and the Kaala Sona 9-piece BDSM kit (₹4,999), which also has a spanking paddle. For a first night the kit is the better buy anyway: the blindfold and cuffs are what make the flogger work.
